About That Knife

Hey friend,

Last time I wrote here, I told you about the knife and how I kept sharpening it instead of cutting anything.

I said I wanted to start making imperfect first cuts instead of waiting for perfect ones.

That was five Sundays ago. So here’s the second cut. Not exactly a streak.

But in my defense, I haven’t been hiding. If you follow us on Instagram, you’ve seen me all summer.

I’ve been bouncing around the feed, getting involved in the captions, and, to be honest, generally enjoying the attention.

John says I’m a hit.

He told me I would be, back in my first letter. He’s even started slipping me extra poke on shift, which I choose to interpret as a performance review.

But being on the feed isn’t the same as writing to you.

Out there, I’m waving at everyone.

Here it’s just us.

And a lot happened while I wasn’t writing it down.

We started selling fresh greens on the site. We took Poke to more markets. People are loving it.

There have been busy days. Good days. Chaotic days.

And somewhere in all of that, something John said started to make more sense.

That the greens take consistency. Consistent water, light and attention.

Not one enormous burst of care every few months.

Just a little, regularly.

So I’m going to try that.

Sundays.

Small letters.

Uneven pieces.

Just like the first cut.

See you next Sunday,

— Milo 🌱

P.S. — What’s something you kept meaning to get back to? I’m curious.
